Parent-Teacher Interviews

It was a real pleasure meeting with parents - and some grandparents - this past week to discuss our initial observations and progress of your children. Education in our Catholic school is built upon the partnership between home, school and church and open communication is so important! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, remind text or a written note.

Many parents have asked how they can support their child's learning at home. Our universal answer is keep reading with your child on a daily basis! Together, read a variety of fiction and non-fiction books based on personal preferences and interests. Here are a few tips:

  • Be word detectives and find letters in their name or sight words (a, and, the, this, he, she) in the text.
  • Count the words on a page.
  • Count the letters in a single word.
  • Do a picture walk. Go through the book looking at the pictures and talk about what might be happening in the story.
  • Make predictions about what might happen next.
  • Make connections to the story. What does this story remind you of - another story, a personal experience.
  • Encourage your child to ask juicy questions  (who, what, where, when, why and how) about the story or information.
We also encourage you to write with your child. JK students should practice writing their name using upper- and lower-case letters. SK students should work on writing their first and last names using upper- and lower-case letters.

Rosary Apostolate

On Wednesday, November 22nd, the Rosary Apostolate made its first monthly visit to our classroom. Students learned about the first Joyful Mystery, the Annunciation. They also prayed the Hail Mary. Students received a gift of rosary beads to share with their families. The Rosary Apostolate is a non-profit organization of volunteers in the community whose main objective is to lead people to Jesus through Mary by teaching them how to pray the Holy Rosary.

Calling Parent Volunteers!

If you have a police check on file in the office and are able to spend some time in our classroom, we would love to have you!  We are looking for parent volunteers to support student learning by playing board games, assisting with reading and writing activities and helping with crafts. Your assistance during a morning between 9:45 and 11:15 would be ideal. Please contact us if you are interested!
